Anudariya Batbold, MD, PhD, MPH

Dr. Anudariya Batbold is a fellowship-trained complex spine surgeon specializing in the full spectrum of spine care: motion-preserving, minimally invasive, and robotic procedures, as well as complex deformity correction, revision surgery, trauma, and spinal oncology.

During her neurosurgical residency at the University of Chicago Medicine, she trained in spinal trauma, oncology, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery. She then completed fellowship training in Complex Spine Surgery at UCSF, combining neurosurgical and orthopedic spine expertise, which allows her to tailor each recommendation to the patient’s anatomy, condition, lifestyle, and goals.

Her practice covers disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, including degenerative conditions, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, deformity and scoliosis, spinal tumors, trauma, and failed previous surgery, treated with techniques ranging from motion preservation and minimally invasive methods to robotic-assisted surgery, complex reconstruction, and revision surgery.

Dr. Batbold earned her MD and PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from SUNY Upstate Medical University, followed by graduate training in public health and outcomes research, culminating in her MPH. This scientific and outcomes-research background lets her critically evaluate emerging evidence and apply it to individualized care, grounding each recommendation in evidence while staying focused on the patient in front of her.

Dr. Batbold’s Philosophy

Every patient arrives with a unique story, and every spine reflects a lifetime of movement and adaptation. My first responsibility is to understand not just what’s happening to your spine, but how it’s affecting your life, and what you hope to return to.
The best decisions come when patients understand their own bodies. My role is to explain what’s happening, why, and what the options are, then build a plan together that fits your goals, values, and the life you want back.
My philosophy is to preserve and strengthen what your spine already does well, restoring function while keeping as much natural anatomy and motion as safely possible. Treatment should start with the least invasive option that can meaningfully help. When surgery is needed, I favor motion-preserving procedures where appropriate, but fusion remains one of the most powerful tools in spine surgery, and I use it when it’s the safest, most durable choice. No single procedure fits every patient, so my job is to recommend what fits the person in front of me.
For patients who’ve already had spine surgery, it’s rarely the end of the road. Revision surgery is among the most demanding areas of spine care, requiring a clear understanding of prior operations and command of the full range of surgical approaches. With careful evaluation and an individualized plan, many patients can still regain function and improve their quality of life.
Every patient has a different destination. My job is to help them find the safest, most durable path there.

About Neurosurgery & Spine Group

At Neurosurgery & Spine Group (NSG), motion matters. We specialize in motion-preserving spine surgery, helping patients overcome spinal disorders without sacrificing the natural mobility of the spine. Led by Dr. Amir Vokshoor and Dr. Jared Ament, our team combines advanced surgical techniques with thoughtful, personalized care to restore quality of life—without unnecessary fusion. Whether you’re dealing with disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, trauma, or neurological conditions, our approach is precise, minimally invasive, and rooted in one goal: to preserve what makes you functional, flexible, and free to move.

What Sets NSG Apart

Leaders in Motion Preservation

From artificial disc replacement to cutting-edge facet joint implants like the TOPS system, NSG pioneers techniques that avoid traditional fusion whenever possible. Our surgeons have led national trials and were the first to perform 360° motion-preserving lumbar surgery in the U.S.

Minimally Invasive Expertise

Our procedures are designed to reduce tissue damage, shorten recovery time, and get patients back to living—not just healing. When fusion is necessary, we use the least disruptive approach with long-term outcomes in mind.

Innovation Meets Compassion

We pair advanced technology with deeply individualized care. Our patients receive clear guidance, responsive communication, and treatment plans designed around their lifestyle goals—not just their MRI.

Global Leadership

Beyond the OR, our surgeons teach, publish, and lead FDA trials in spinal innovation. Through NSG and our education arm INI Studios, we bring the latest thinking in neuroscience and spine health to patients and providers around the world.
